1. 同輔音（子音）相對，指粵語嘅「丫」呢啲，聲門對上嘅發聲管道冇收縮、冇受阻嘅語音，一般伴住聲帶震動、可以獨立而持續發音、亦係音節入面最響嘅部份；又叫響音或者母音（量詞：個）

• 粵語七個主要元音分別係 aa、e、i、o、u、oe、yu。
